Four Matchday 2 fixtures, the day Groups K and L take shape — here are the prices and our picks, in AEST.

It is the final day of Matchday 2, and the early risers get the action: all four games kick off before lunchtime AEST and stream live and free on SBS. England chase top of Group L, Ronaldo’s Portugal need a result, and there is a genuine elimination six-pointer in Panama v Croatia. Here is the card with decimal odds and our angle on each.

Today’s card at a glance

Match (AEST, 24 Jun) 1 X 2
Portugal v Uzbekistan — 3:00 AM 1.18 7.00 15.00
England v Ghana — 6:00 AM 1.20 6.50 14.00
Panama v Croatia — 9:00 AM 7.50 4.10 1.55
Colombia v DR Congo — 12:00 PM 1.51 4.20 7.00

1X2 decimal odds, media-reported (FanDuel/bet365/covers), as of 23 Jun 2026. Croatia are the "2" in Panama v Croatia.

Portugal v Uzbekistan — Ronaldo under pressure

Portugal are heavy 1.18 favourites, but the story is Ronaldo: blanked in the opener and facing calls to be dropped after a 10-game major-tournament goal drought. A motivated Portugal should still have far too much for a debutant Uzbekistan side. The short price is one for a multi, not a standalone bet.

England v Ghana — top of Group L on the line

England (1.20) won 4–2 against Croatia and can go top with a win, but Ghana arrive on three points of their own and with three first-choice players ruled out of the tournament (Kudus, Salisu, Djiku). Kane is a goal from passing Lineker as England’s all-time World Cup scorer. Our lean: England to win, with Kane anytime as the value rider.

Panama v Croatia — elimination maths

Both lost their openers and sit on zero, so the loser is all but gone. Croatia are 1.55 to win away; Modrić, at 40, looked leg-weary late against England. A tight, tense game — the draw at 4.10 has more appeal than the headline price suggests.

Colombia v DR Congo — near round-of-32 decider

Colombia (1.51) beat Uzbekistan 3–1 and lead Group K; DR Congo, at their first World Cup in over 50 years, held Portugal. The winner takes a giant step towards the knockouts. Colombia’s edge in quality is real, but DR Congo’s organisation makes the under/draw markets live.

Example: A $20 punt on England at 1.20 returns $24 (a $4 profit). Roll it into a same-day multi with Colombia (1.51) and the combined price is about 1.81 — $20 returns roughly $36.
  • All four games are before lunch AEST, free on SBS.
  • England (1.20) v Ghana is a straight shoot-out for top of Group L.
  • Panama v Croatia is an elimination match — the loser is all but out.
  • Short favourites suit multis; the Panama v Croatia draw (4.10) is the contrarian play.
